In a bombshell allegation that has been largely ignored by the mainstream media, numerous websites are reporting that terminated Volusia County medical examiner, Dr. Shiping Bao, who — if you remember — offered conflicting testimony while testifying during the George Zimmerman trial, is now preparing a $100 million lawsuit claiming prosecutors intentionally lost the case.
Leonardo Blair of the Christian Post writes:
Bao claims through his high-profile attorney, Willie Gary, that the state attorney’s office and Sanford Police Department were all biased against Martin, according to a WFTV report.
“He says their general attitude was that he got what he deserved,” said Gary.
Gary argued that the medical examiner is being made a scapegoat and is prepared to offer testimony that 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was not the aggressor in the incident that cost him his life.
“He was in essence told to zip his lips.’Shut up. Don’t say those things,’” Gary explained of his client.
Prosecutors, he argues, never asked the medical examiner a question crucial to their case.
“He wanted a question that would have allowed him to explain to the jury with scientific evidence how there was no way Trayvon Martin could have been on top of George Zimmerman,” he said.
According to his website, Attorney Willie E. Gary earned his reputation as “The Giant Killer” by taking down some of America’s most well-known corporate giants on behalf of his clients. He has won some of the largest jury awards and settlements in U.S. history, including more than 150 cases valued in excess of $1 million each. Gary’s amazing success has earned him national recognition as a leading trial attorney.”
Willie E. Gary is a heavyweight. He has been featured in Ebony magazine as one of the “100 Most Influential Black Americans,” and Forbes magazine has listed him as one of the “Top 50 Attorneys in the U.S.”
Bao’s allegations come swiftly on the heels of him being fired from his position as associate medical examiner for Volusia County which released a letter on Tuesday, stating that Bao was fired last week. Spokesman Dave Byron declined to give a reason for Bao’s termination, citing “county standard personnel practices,” reports CBS News.
It is noted that even if Dr. Bao wins the lawsuit, it will not have any bearing on Zimmerman’s acquittal. The legal doctrine of double jeopardy prevents criminal defendants from being tried twice for the same offense.

If you remember, during the trial, Zimmerman’s defense team leaned heavily on witness John Good’s testimony that he had seen Trayvon Martin on top of George Zimmerman striking him repeatedly. In fact Zimmerman’s lead attorney — the generally not-overly exuberant Mark O’Mara — actually got down on the floor of the courtroom and pantomimed young Martin walloping Zimmerman in what was described as a kind of mixed martial arts (MMA) maneuver.
Did the prosecution actually “throw the case” as Shiping Bao is suggesting? Many individuals who were disappointed and/or angered by Zimmerman’s acquittal have, of course, suggested or thought privately that such is the case. It will be interesting to see what happens in Bao’s lawsuit.
All of this was going on last week during the same time frame that the mainstream press was reporting on the Zimmerman domestic violence incident in which he allegedly struck Shellie Zimmerman’s father in the face and smashed Shellie’s iPad. The domestic violence incident is still being investigated by Lake Mary law enforcement, but the initial reports suggest that the authorities will not be able to recover the alleged video of Zimmerman striking Shellie Zimmerman’s father.
