commentary by Patrick H. Moore
Heather Elvis was reported missing Dec. 19 when her car was found at the Peachtree Boat Landing where she had apparently driven in the early hours of the morning. Self-styled “swingers” Tammy and Sidney Moorer have been arrested for her murder. They are in separate jails and one might expect things to calm down during the long lull before their trial.
Things are anything but calm in the Moorer-Elvis world, however. This is gun country and there are a lot of men driving around in their trucks toting their hardware with them. There may be quite a few women doing the same thing. It’s reported that there’s BAD BLOOD between the Moorer supporters and the Elvis people. Where there’s bad blood and lots of iron being carted around there’s a real potential for “endgame”.
But this is more than just gun country. This is all-around “don’t get in my face” country. Intimidation is the name of the game, and just as the night follows the day, assault may follow intimidation.
WMBF News investigators unearthed the fact that Sidney StClair Moorer was arrested in 2009 for shoplifting (this makes me like him more), and again in 2011 for assault along with Tammy’s father, William Caison, in an incident involving a neighbor, Edward Miller. It was triggered by a property dispute. Miller says he still fears for his safety after repeated threats.
Am I smelling the distinct noxious odor of a couple of bullies? If so, it’s not a good smell. Plus, it’s a scary thing to have a violent son-in-law and a violent father-in-law tight as crossed fingers. Or such seems to be the case.
What we’re talking about here is almost like a kind of clan mentality, a remnant of the Old World where hostilities between rival families ran deep. The Myrtle Beach area is full of proud families that have lived in the area for generations. So far there have been plenty of skirmishes but the point of open warfare has not yet been reached.
A woman named Jennifer Garrett has also filed an assault report against William Caison. She reports that in January she was helping in the search for what was once Heather Elvis near William Caison’s property when the father-in-law came charging toward her:
“He raised a stick and was very close to me and said ‘I’m going to. I don’t care if you’re a woman. I’m going to bash your “blanking” head in.’”
Of course it works both ways. During the weeks leading up to his arrest, Sidney Moorer had a big “X” painted on his back metaphorically speaking. If his story is true, he and his wife and kids dodged several bullets on Feb. 6th on Highway 17 between DeBordieu and Georgetown in Georgetown County.
According to a Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office incident report, Moorer said someone driving a Ford F-150 got within 50 feet of his bumper. The vehicle had been following him for several miles.
Moorer heard “two distinct shots from an automatic handgun” come from the suspects’ vehicle, according to the report.
Then the driver of the suspect vehicle shut off his lights and Moorer lost sight of him
There was no damage to the victim’s car and, unsurprisingly, the unidentified suspects are still at large.
It’s been about three weeks since Tammy and Sidney were arrested and the “Sidney and Tammy Moorer are innocent” contingent has had plenty of time to get organized.
Terry Elvis Has the “X” Painted on His Back Door
Amanda Kelley writes in The State:
Terry Elvis, the father of a woman reported missing in December, called Myrtle Beach police Thursday to complain about harassment after finding an “X” painted on the back door of his business in The Market Common, according to an incident report.
Elvis told police he feels the “X” means he is being marked.
Elvis was informed by friends Thursday morning that there was a video posted on a Facebook page called “Call Da PO HO” that showed the back of his sign shop, “Always Stuck On You.” It was “liked” by a page called “Sidney and Tammy Moorer are innocent.”
The video referred to in the police report was posted at 12:59 a.m. Thursday.
Elvis explained to the police that he hadn’t seen the side of the door where the “X” is painted in about a year because it is usually propped open. He said he smelled fresh paint when he got there.
At this point, Elvis’s daughter Heather has almost certainly been murdered. Elvis himself is a marked man.
Of course, this peculiar family tragedy would not be complete without threats against Heather’s little sister Morgan. (Whew! Quite a name, Morgan Elvis).
And threats against Morgan we most certainly have. Six weeks ago, Elvis informed police that when he exited the rear of his shop on February 6th, he saw a jeep – jacked up with huge tires – with two men inside. The passenger yelled, “We already have Heather, Morgan is next,” according to the report. Then the jeep sped away.
This is nasty shit. No honor here.

So how did Sidney meet the lovely decedent Heather? It wasn’t that hard. Though the crafty Moorers reputedly have made much of their money through successful lawsuits, nonetheless Sidney, as befits any ambitious fellow, had a contracting business. His work led him to the restaurant where Heather Elvis also worked and the rest is history.
A manager at that restaurant, who may also be a relative, said Sidney Moorer was a reliable contractor and came with positive recommendations.
“Sidney, to me always was a lucky-go-happy guy, but you could tell by being around them as a couple, that she called the shots,” the relative said.
The relative also said that Tammy will never come clean and that it will be up to Sidney to set things right:
“I don’t think Tammy will ever say what really happened, I think it’s gonna be up to Sidney, to man up on this one and come clean,” the relative added.
Last month prior to his arrest, Sidney Moorer told WMBF News Anchor David Klugh he couldn’t talk about Heather Elvis or the case.
WMBF News Anchor David Klugh: “How are you all holding up?”
Sidney Moorer: “Um, crappy because people are threatening to kill us, and they’re not in jail.”

That Sidney! He’s always quick to paint himself as the victim. And in a sense he is – the victim of his own carnal desire.
